Naij is now the 5th most visited website in Nigeria for 2017

Nigeria news and entertainment website Naij.com has overtaken MMMoffice as the 5th most visited website in Nigeria. Naij which is a Nigerian news and entertainment portal that features aggregated news content was ranked 16th overall most visited website in Nigeria by Alexa in the previous month. Naij.com is now 5th most visited website in Nigeria for 2017

But according to the latest ranking from Alexa.com, a standard for online traffic evaluation showed that Naij.com leapfrogged the likes of mmm, Facebook, Jumia.com.ng and Twitter to maintain the 5th most visited website in Nigeria currently. Statistics from Alexa also showed that Naij is now one of the 500 most visited website in the world. The website was ranked 495th globally boasting of over 1million users daily and more than 5 million pageviews per day.

Naij.com was founded in 2012 according to Wikipedia. It has its headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria and launched an editorial hub in Abuja in May 2015. The website’s servers were attacked by hackers in July 2015 but was sequentially resuscitated.

As at July 2016, it has more than 90 million monthly readers and is ranked as the 16th overall most visited website in Nigeria by Alexa. Currently the website’s Facebook community is over 3.3 million Subscribers and stands at over 3.1 million as at July 2016. Data from Facebook stats about online media in Nigeria shows that NAIJ.com news site now has over Five million of fans on the world’s major social network. This means in 4 years, NAIJ has overtook Sahara Reporters and other online news sites. Naij.com partnered with browser software makers Opera and telecoms giant MTN in 2015 to bring one million days of free Internet to Nigeria.

Other notable Facebook pages credited to Naij are Naij.com breaking news and naij.com weddings with 964,031 and 330,334 subscribers respectively. The combine Naij Facebook subscribers now stand at 4.7 million subscribers while its mobile application on Google playstore currently exceeded I million downloads.
