Asus also announced the Asus Zenfone Max M1 alongside the Zenfone 5 and 5z at the 2018 Mobile World Congress. The device, however, is in the midrange category and pretty much affordable than the flagships.
The Max M1 is the sibling to the Max Plus released late last year in Russia. Besides being affordable, the Max M1 Plus packs a bunch as well, it boasts of dual rear shooters and 4000mAh battery. Without further ado, meet the Max M1.
Not as beautiful at their flagships but the Metal + Glass reflects light in the most subtle way. It sports curved sides and edges that are both comfortable to hold and easy to operate. The fingerprint scanner is in the usual position offering easy access to the phone.
The vertical dual rear camera at the top left corner is definitely giving us some iPhone X vibe and adds to the beauty. In a unique twist, the dual-LED flash is now underneath the rear shooters. Moving to the sides, it measures 8.7 mm in thickness and weighs 150g overall. In terms of the colour option, you can get it in Black, Gold and Red.
It’s bezel-less but not entirely, it doesn’t come with the top-notch like the Zenfone 5 and 5z. It has tiny narrow bezels which dish out longer display in landscape mode. But enough of the bezels, let’s focus on the screen now, shall we?
The 5.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is pretty standard like most midrange. Boasting of 1440 x 720 pixels in resolution and 245 pixels per inch density for clear and immersive visuals. The screen got 74.75% screen to body ratio, making it a bezel-less smartphone.
HARDWARE and SOFTWARE
Working underneath is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 with just 4 cores of a processor. The quad-core processor reaches a maximum speed of 1.4GHz with 64-bit CPU architecture. Furthermore, it has a 28nm process technology while the Qualcomm Adreno 308 handles graphics.
For multitasking, it comes in two versions, the standard one with 3GB RAM and a much cheaper version with 2GB. Same with storage, there’s a standard one with 32GB and a much cheaper version with 16GB. Both RAM spaces reach a memory speed of 800MHz, while the storage is upgradeable up to 256GB as well. The Max M1 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system with Zen UI 5.0 skin.
At the back, the dual 13MP + 8MP rear camera is very sharp and ready to help your photography skills. Capturing 4K resolution images with picture dimension being as high as 4163 x 3122 pixels. The cameras have f/2.0 aperture and come with a dual-LED flash and other features as well. Record videos of 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second and take selfies with the 8MP (f/2.2 aperture) selfie camera.
The Asus Zenfone Max M1 is powered by a Non-Removable Li-Po 4000mAh battery with fast charging technology.
