Chinese smartphones maker Xiaomi has partnered with Nigeria’s number one online store Jumia. In this exclusive partnership, Xiaomi will be releasing their latest Redmi smartphones first on Jumia for the Nigerian market. The Redmi Note 5a, Redmi Note 5a Prime, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 plus will be available exclusively on the 7th of March 2018 on the online store.
Redmi smartphones are Xiaomi midrange series focusing on those on a tight budget. Furthermore, the Redmi Note 5a and Redmi Note 5a Prime will be available first and the other two later on. The Redmi Note 5a and Redmi Note 5a Prime runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and packs 3080mAh battery.
According to Juliet Anammah, CEO of Jumia Nigeria, she is confident that Xiaomi’s unprecedented success in other markets will see the same in Nigeria. She also said Xiaomi knows exactly what the Nigerian customers need. Their Redmi smartphones are affordable functional and durable.
The company is proud to be the exclusive online distributor these new smartphones in the country. The smartphones will be available during their Mobile Week sales event. The event is scheduled to hold from March 15 to 25 2018. The smartphones boast of 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. They have an Octa-core processor and houses the Qualcomm 435 chip and supports dual nano sims.
The Redmi 5a Prime is ideal for photography lovers, boasting of a 16MP selfie camera. The selfie camera has its own LED flash and f/2.0 aperture While at the back, there’s a 13MP camera. The Redmi 5a Prime boasts of 32GB storage and 3GB RAM and will retail for N45,890 on Jumia. While the Redmi 5a boasts of 16GB Storage and 2GB RAM and will retail for N34,590. No words yet on the price of Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 plus, we have to wait till Jumia’s Mobile Week.
