Xiaomi storms the UK Market, Partners with Three
Chinese electronics manufacturer, Xiaomi have stormed the United Kingdom in full force. This is coming after other Chinese OEM are having issues in North America, but it seems Xiaomi isn’t really bothered about that, as the company is now focusing on European. Xiaomi partnered with one of the biggest network providers in the UK, Three, a British telecoms and internet service provider.
The Chinese company signed a deal with CK Hutchinson Holdings who owns the company. This will enable people living in the UK to buy Xiaomi devices through Three. Xiaomi also said their phones and other devices will be available in other countries like Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland and Italy as well. As long as the network operator, Three is present in that country.
According to Tom Malleschitz, Three’s chief digital officer, he said “We have been watching Xiaomi’s success from afar and are impressed with the huge range of connected devices that they currently offer. This partnership provides us with another leading brand in our smartphone range and also opens the door for innovative new connected products that we can provide to Three customers in the future. So watch this space!”.
Right now, there’s no information on the Xiaomi smartphones that will be sold in Europe. But it’s certain Three won’t be selling only Xiaomi smartphones, as other Xiaomi devices will be available through them as well. The devices will be available in A.S. Watson’s retail locations across Europe. The same way we saw the unreleased Redmi S2 smartphone first in the new Mi Store in Prague, Czech Republic.
