Huawei Honor Play has been introduced in China as a gaming and overall smartphone that offers great value for money as well. Huawei Play offers what most gaming smartphones only dream of, affordability mixed with high graphics performance.

The Honor Play sports a similar look with the Honor 10 and 9i, however, the placement of the camera is now vertical like the P20 flagships. While the LED flash comes underneath and ready for night shoots, and the fingerprint scanner is available as well.
Sporting an overall Metal unibody with a sleek antenna line at the top and bottom corner, the device is an absolute stunner for its price. It measures 7.5 mm in thickness and weighs 176g overall. You can get it in Black, Blue and Violet colours.
Just like the Honor 9i and Honor 10, the Honor Play also comes with the trending notched screen. Although, it seems the notch near looks longer than on the 9i. Nonetheless, Honor did a good job by getting rid of the home button.
If you’re into big screens, its 6.3-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen should be more than enough. It brings a 1080 x 2340 pixels in resolution and 409 pixels per inch density for clear visuals. The screen dishes out a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and stretches up to 83% of the entire front.
HARDWARE and SOFTWARE
The powerful Hisilicon Kirin 970 chip takes centre stage here. An 8-core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The Octa-core processor clocks at a fast speed of 2.4GHz with 10nm process technology. The Mali-G72 MP12 graphics processor comes with Turbo tech and clocks at 850MHz.
There are two versions, depending on how heavy you multitask through games and apps. There’s one with 6GB RAM and a cheaper variant with 4GB RAM, both reaches a memory speed of 1.866GHz. While the storage space is 64GB and upgradeable up to 256GB. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.2.
At the back, the 16MP + 2MP cameras has f/2.2 + f/2.4 aperture respectively. There’s portrait mode, phase detection autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. Its camera also recognizes over 500 scenes, thanks to the NPU, Kirin’s AI core. You can also shoot 4K videos of 2160p@30fps and 1080p@30fps. While the 16MP selfie camera has f/2.0 aperture, 2.0µm pixel size, supports Face ID with 3D portrait lighting.
