Oppo A5 is the newest smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer, it is the newest instalment to the A series. The A5 boasts trendy features like the Face ID feature and a notch display.

It has a roughy rear texture that looks like the Realme 1 smartphone that was introduced as a shade to Xiaomi’s Redmi series. Internally, the A5 has 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM. Lets meet the A5.

Oppo A5 Design and Display

The A5 was designed with a nano-scale microcrystalline technology, this gives a dazzling illusion at the rear just like the Realme 1. The lines are just absolutely stunning and breathtaking.

It has no fingerprint scanner, so you have to depend on the Face ID feature for biometric access. The dual rear shooters and LED flash are at the top vertically, as it measures 8.2mm in thickness and available in Blue and Pink colours.

Just like the most mid-range smartphone from Oppo, the A5 comes with the trending notched screen. However, the notch is super minimal and small, while the bottom chin is obviously thick as expected.

The 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is pretty basic. It boasts 1520 x 720 pixels in resolution and 271 pixels per inch density, delivering clear visuals. The screen stretches up to 81.2% screen-to-body ratio as well.

Hardware and Software

The device is powered by the Snapdragon 450 chip from Qualcomm. It’s built on a leading-edge 14nm process technology and comes with an octa-core processor clocking at 1.8GHz max. In the graphics department, the Adreno 506 graphics processor takes charge.

There’s a standard 4GB of RAM for multitasking, this reaches a fast memory speed of over 1GHz as well. In the storage department, it has 64GB space and you can expand up to 256GB with a memory card. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Color OS 5.0.

Camera

In terms of photography, it has dual 13MP + 2MP shooters. The 13MP primary sensor has f/2.2 aperture, while the 2MP telephoto has f/2.4 aperture for portrait shots. There is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture, AI beautify feature and Face ID support.

Network and Connectivity

The A5 supports dual 4G VoLTE connectivity and accommodates dual Nano SIMs. It also has support for Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm jack, USB port, OTG, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot and A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS.

Battery

The Oppo A5 is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 4230mAh battery with fast charging technology.

Price and Availability

Oppo A5 will be available on shopping stores from August, starting from $249 to $299, that’s about (N85,000 – N100,000).
