Vivo Z1i has been unveiled in China as the upgraded variant of the Vivo Z1 smartphone we reviewed weeks ago. The Z1i brings along a bigger storage space and enhanced selfie camera.
However, the chipset has been downgraded in a unique twist as well. The new device houses an older Snapdragon 636 chip with an octa-core processor. You also get a bigger 128GB storage space as well. Let’s find out more.

Vivo Z1i Design
At first glance, you might actually think it has an aluminium alloy body, however, it’s just made of plastic. The Z1i reflects light in the most subtle way, with all the details being the same as the Z1. However, the Vivo logo has gold finishing touches as well.
It’s also equipped with a rear fingerprint scanner that grants quick access to the device. When you turn over to the sides, it measures 7.9 mm in thickness and weighs just 149.3g overall. You can get it in Black and Red colours.
Vivo Z1i Display
Just like the Vivo Z1, the Z1i has a notched screen as well. We also love the notch on the Z1i, it’s super minimal and doesn’t take much space. The bottom chin is very tiny and it’s almost invisible as well.
The tall 6.28-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is perfect for big screen lovers. The screen boasts of 1080 x 2280 pixels in resolution and 403 pixels per inch density dishing out clear and sharp visuals. The screen also stretches up to 84.1% screen-to-body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, the Z1i adopts the Snapdragon 636 chip from Qualcomm which was built on a 14nm FinFET process technology. The chip has 8-cores of processor doing the work underneath and clocking at 1.8GHz. While the Adreno 509 graphics card runs graphics.
For multitasking, there’s 4GB of RAM available to help you multitask through heavy apps. There’s also a massive 128GB storage space available and you can also expand up to 256GB using a memory card. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Funtouch OS 4.0 skin on top.
Vivo Z1i Camera
The 13MP + 2MP rear shooters are AI-powered and come with a lot of features like LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama. The 2MP shooter underneath is a depth sensor that will help in background blur. It also shoots 4K videos @30fps, while the 16MP selfie camera is AI-powered as well.
Network and Connectivity
The Z1i supports 4G LTE and accommodates dual Nano SIM, it also has support for Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm jack, USB port, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot and A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS.
Vivo Z1i Battery
The Vivo Z1i is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 3260mAh battery with fast charging technology. Vivo Z1i is available on shopping stores, starting from $299 to $349, that’s about (N100,000 – N120,000).
