Meizu 16 has been launched by the company after several leaks and rumours. The device ships with an 18:9 Super AMOLED display with super minimal bezels around it.

It comes with an under-display fingerprint scanner that unlocks the device in just 0.25s. The new smartphone sports dual rear camera with 6-LED flash and powered by the power-efficient SD845. Let’s find out more.

Design And Display

The device looks like the Meizu 15 from the rear, it has an aluminium alloy overall unibody with curved sides and edges. The camera’s placement is still the same with the dual camera at the top middle.

It starts a horizontal train while the 6-LED flash comes in form of a ring and takes its place underneath. Turning to the sides, it measures 7.3mm in thickness and weighs 152g overall.

The front reminds us of the Galaxy S9, the screen stretches all the way to the sides. While the top and bottom bezels are super minimal. The screen is also curved in all its glory.

It sports a tall 6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. This boasts of 1080 x 2160 pixels in resolution and 402 pixels per inch density offering immersive visuals. It also stretches up to 84.3% screen-to-body ratio.

Hardware and Software

The power efficient Snapdragon 845 chip does the trick here, it comes with an octa-core processor clocking at 2.8GHz tops. In the graphics department, the Adreno 630 graphics card does the trick as well.

In terms of storage and RAM, there are three variants, there’s one with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage space. While another comes with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM, the cheap variant has 64GB storage and 4GB RAM. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box as well.

Camera, Network And Connectivity

In the camera department, it’s equipped with dual 12MP + 20MP rear shooters. The 12MP shooter has a f/1.8 aperture, 1/2.3″ sensor size, 1.55 µm pixel size, 4-axis OIS and laser AF. While the 20MP shooter acts as the depth sensor. There’s a 20MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture as well.

The Meizu 16 supports 4G LTE connectivity and accommodates dual Nano SIMs. It has support for Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm jack with adapter, USB TypeC, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot and A-GPS, GLONASS.

Battery, Price And Availability

The Meizu 16 is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 3010mAh battery with fast charging technology. Meizu 16 will be available on shopping stores, starting from $395 to $485, that’s about (N130,000 – N160,000).
