FlexPai becomes the first foldable phone and also the first phone with Snapdragon 8150

The FlexPai from Rouyu Technology has just taken not one but two titles of being the first foldable phone and the first phone to use the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor on board – Snapdragon 8150. When unfolded, the device sports a massive 7.8-inch with a 4:3 aspect ratio and when folded, it shrinks to a 4-inch device (16:9 or 18:9). The device folds down the middle, literally cutting the screen in half.

The water OS on this device which is a skin on new and latest Android 9.0 Pie switches to use only half of the screen when foldable while it displays a wallpaper on the other half of the screen. However, one side has a more slightly bigger screen than the other.

When folded, the thickness of the device stands at 15.2mm while it reduces 7.6mm when unfolded. The hinge responsible for folding and unfolding the device is rated to be folded about 200,000 times. For photography, it has a 16MP + 20MP camera can both be used as a rear camera (when folded and using the other screen) and as a selfie camera (when unfolded and using the whole 7.8-inch).

Inside the device is the Snapdragon 8150 chipset based on the 7nm process technology and a successor/upgrade to the Snapdragon 845. The Snapdragon 8150 chipset on this device reaches a clock speed of 2.8GHz with an Adreno A460 graphic processing unit.

This paired with a base version which comes with a 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Other configurations options include an 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal Storage and lastly, an 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. There is also a proprietary fast charging feature called Ro-Charge which will be used to quickly juice up the 3800mAh battery capacity of this device. The Ro-Charge according to Rouyu Technology can get the device from 0% to 80% in an hour.

FlexPai

The starting price for this device is about $1300/€1135 for the base version which isn’t on the high when compared to several other flagship devices we have now and the fact that this comes with an upgraded/next gen chipset and a foldable design. There is no word yet on when the device is set to go on sale but when it does, we will be here to let you know.
