If you usually use your iPhone late at night then you would definitely want to know how to turn on dark mode on your iPhone Xs and Xs Max. Generally, Dark mode on smartphones is a good thing as it has a lot of advantages. For one, it reduces eye strain by reducing the emission of blue lights on the smartphone screen.

The blue lights when using your smartphone during the day doesn’t necessarily do any damage but when used for long hours at night or in a dark environment can cause headaches, and sometimes insomnia. Secondly, using dark mode has also been proven to slightly extend the battery life of smartphones.

How to Turn ON Dark Mode on iPhone Xs and Xs Max

Now, iPhone doesn’t have an option to turn on Dark mode. However, there is a workaround for this. There is an option called smart Invert on iPhones and iPads running iOS 11 and above which basically does what a Dark mode would do. It reverses the colour of the display on your iPhone screen except for media files like images and videos. This means that every white background on your iPhone turns to black which is what Dark mode kinda does. To do this, you’ll have to follow the outlined steps below.

How to Turn ON Dark Mode on iPhone Xs and Xs Max

The step below is for iPhone Xs and Xs Max but should work with any iPhone device running iOS 11 operating system or higher. So if you’re using an iPhone or iPad device and would like to get this dark mode on your iOS device, you can start by upgrading to iOS 11 or something higher. Already on iOS 11/12? Have an iPhone Xs or Xs Max? If your answer to any of these questions is Yes then you can follow the steps below to turn on dark mode on your iOS device.

  • Pick up your iPhone Xs or Xs Max and Click on The Settings Icon/App.
  • In the Settings Menu, Click on General and Select Accessibility.
  • Now, Click on Display Accommodations and Inside Display Accommodations, Click on Invert Colours.
  • Next, Turn on Smart Invert using the toggle in front of the option.

Doing this will automatically turn the whole white screen to black and there you have it. Dark mode on your iPhone Xs and Xs Max. If you would like to invert option to apply to your media files then you can simply use the classic invert underneath the smart Invert to do that. All you have to do is just toggle the option in front of it. Hopefully, Apple releases a dedicated Dark mode for iOS soon as it will go a long way in helping with eye strain, battery drain and make the User Interface look even better.
