TECNO Camon 11 Pro VS Camon X Pro: Any major upgrades?
Are there any major upgrades from the TECNO X Pro released about 6 months ago to the TECNO Camon 11 Pro released just a few hours ago? This question is what we will be answering here but to answer that, we will have to take a look at what the Camon 11 Pro Brings to the table in comparison to the Camon X Pro.
TECNO Camon 11 Pro VS Camon X Pro – Design & Display
On the design front, we have to give it to the Camon 11 Pro Phantom 8’s diamond fire inspired design with its radiantly looking back. The feel on the Camon 11 Pro looks a lot more premium compared to the Camon X Pro Polycarbonate design.
On the Camon 11 Pro we have a 6.2-inch notched IPS LCD display, 720 x 1520 Pixels Screen Resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio which is an upgrade from the 6.0-inch IPS LCD display we have on the Camon X Pro.
However, the Camon X Pro comes with Full HD+ resolution with 2160 x 1080 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. This means that the display will be sharper and you will be able to watch YouTube videos at 1080P as against Camon 11 Pro’s 720P.
At the front of the Camon X Pro is a single camera with an LED and at the back is also a single camera with Quad-LED flash. The Camon 11 Pro on the hand features a dual camera set up at the back with Quad-LED flash and a single front-facing camera with an LED flash as well. The fingerprint sensor is located in the usual spot on both devices. Camon X Pro comes in four colour flavours – Champagne Gold, Midnight Black, City and Blue while Camon 11 Pro has just a single colour of Diamond fire design.
TECNO Camon 11 Pro VS Camon X Pro – Hardware & Software
Camon X Pro is driven by a MediaTek Helio P23 Chipset with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The Helio P23 is manufactured on the TSMC 16nm FinFET production process. Its eight ARM Cortex-A53 processors operate up to an incredible 2.3GHz (typical) / 2.5GHz (single-core scenario), while MediaTek CorePilot 4.0 technology with power-aware scheduling, thermal management and UX monitoring keeps a sustained high-performance and reliably consistent user-experience. Similarly, the GPU has been upgraded to the new Mali-G71 MP2 running up to a speedy 770MHz
On the Camon 11 Pro, there is the new Mediatek Helio P22 chipset which was manufactured on the TSMC 12nm FinFET production process; a significant generational upgrade for mainstream devices that delivers all the MediaTek Helio P22’s advanced features and awesome experiences while ensuring a new bar in long battery-life smartphones.
The new chipset is capable of 20:9 ratio HD+ (1600 x 720) resolution displays that offer a great balance between sharpness and power-efficiency. This is backed by IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU running up to a speedy 650MHz, and powerful octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU operating up to 2.0GHz. The major strength of this new chipset in its low-photography with AI-capability.
The Camon X Pro has 4GB of RAM while Camon 11 Pro has 6GB Of RAM. Both devices have 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded further via the MicroSD card slot up to 128GB. For software, things look pretty much the same on both the TECNO Camon X and 11 Pro with both running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, except that the Camon 11 Pro now runs on TECNO’s latest HiOS 4.1 against HiOS 3.3 on the Camon X Pro.
So on the performance side, they are pretty close, looking at processors on these devices. Both the Helio P22 is kind of new and should be better in RAM and power management.
TECNO Camon 11 Pro VS Camon X Pro Camera
The 16MP rear camera on the TECNO Camon X has a Quad-LED flash while on the front, there is a 24MP selfie shooter with an LED flash. Camon 11 Pro, on the other hand, has a dual 16MP + 5MP rear camera setup paired also with a Quad-LED flash and a single 24MP AI-front facing the camera for selfies with an LED flash.
So the major upgrade here is the addition of a secondary rear camera for portrait photos as well as some AI-gimmicks on both the rear and front cameras on the Camon 11 Pro.
Battery & Connectivity
A 3,750mAh battery powers both devices here which should be more than enough to get an average user through the day without the need to charge. Speaking of charging, both devices support Mediatek’s fast charging technology called Pump Express so getting that battery back to up shouldn’t be a problem.
TECNO Camon 11 Pro VS Camon X Pro – Price
TECNO Camon 11 Pro will set you back at least N75,000 while the older Camon X Pro will cost you same N75,000. As you can see from the prices there is no upgrade here. While there are some upgrades, or rather changes like the new aspect ratio, a lower tier albeit capable SoC, a slightly bigger RAM and dual camera, it still doesn’t change the fact that the Camon 11 Pro is priced the same as the Old Camon X Pro.
That is it about the TECNO Camon 11 Pro VS Camon X Pro specs and feature comparison. If you already have the Camon X Pro then there isn’t that much need to upgrade. However, if you are looking to pick one of the two to buy then you should go for the Camon 11 Pro as it has a more Modern look and gives a somewhat same performance, better camera at the same price.
