Huawei Nova 3i Vs Huawei Y9 2019: Same Kirin 710 but which is better?
Here, we will be comparing the Huawei P Smart+, popularly known as Huawei Nova 3i against another Huawei Made smartphone called Huawei Y9 2019. Bout devices are obviously from the same smartphone company sporting the same in-house Kirin Chipset – Kirin 710. Asides from the chipset, what other similarities and differences do these two devices have? Well, that’s what we are here to find out.
Huawei Nova 3i Vs Huawei Y9 2019 – Design & Display
Both devices have a similar display and design. Huawei Nova 3i sports a 6.3-inch display with 1080 x 2340 pixels screen resolution (409ppi) and a 19:9 aspect ratio with a notch up top to house the front-facing cameras. Huawei Y9 on the other hand also has a slightly bigger notched 6.5-inch display with 1080 x 2340 pixels Screen Resolution (396ppi) and of course, a 19:9 aspect ratio.
At the back of both devices is yet another dual camera setup with a fingerprint sensor at the usual spot. Huawei Nova 3i and Y9 2019 weighs 169 and 173 grams and measures at 7.6mm and 8.1mm thickness respectively. Colours options available Huawei Nova 3i are Colors Black, Pearl White, Iris Purple and Acacia Red and for the Huawei Y9 2019, colours options are just Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, Aurora Purple

In this department, everything is pretty much the same. On both devices is the in-house Kirin Chipset from Huawei clocking speeds of up to 2.2GHz, which is paired with a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. Also, both devices have two variants which include the 4GB RAM version with 64GB of Internal storage and a 6GB RAM version that comes with 128GB of internal storage.
Storage can be expanded further by using one of the SIM slot available (Hybrid SIM) on the Huawei Nova 3i or using the dedicated MicroSD card slot on the Huawei Y9 2019 (Which has a dual SIM SIM Slot). EMUI 8.2 also runs on both devices out of the box which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

The similarities continue as both devices sport 4 cameras each – two at the back and two up front. On the Huawei Nova 3i, there is 16MP main shooter with f/2.2 aperture and phase detection autofocus (PDAF) which is supported by a secondary 2MP depth sensor camera with LED flash, HDR and Panorama. At the front is a 24MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture and a secondary 2MP depth sensor camera with HDR. Both the front and back cameras are capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps.
Huawei Y9 2019, on the other hand, has a similar setup which features a main 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture with PDAF and a secondary 2MP depth sensor camera with f/2.4 aperture and an LED flash, HDR And Panorama. For Selfies, there is a 13MP front-facing camera with f/1.8 aperture, supported by a 2MP depth sensor camera with f/2.4 aperture. Also, both the front and back facing cameras here can also record 1080p videos at 30fps.

Huawei Nova 3i has a 3,340mAh battery capacity while Huawei Y9 2019 has a 4000mAh battery capacity. Both devices are equipped with fast charging of up to 10W. Both devices also have WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot and a Micro USB 2.0 Port. Huawei Nova 3i has Bluetooth 4.2 with A2DP, LE (Low Energy), EDR, aptX HD and support for FM Radio and USB on the Go while Y9 2019 is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 which has A2DP and LE.
Huawei Nova 3i Vs Huawei Y9 2019 – Price
Huawei Nova 3i costs about N105,000 while Huawei Y9 2019 goes for about N107,00. it is obvious that both devices will offer the same performance thanks to the similar chipset so it all boils down to the little things like the battery capacity for example and if those little things are worth the price difference. Personally, I will go for the Y9 2019 because of the much better battery life and the smaller notch.
