Huawei Honor Play 8A Full Specs and Price

Honor, a sub-brand of the popular Chinese smartphone maker Huawei recently release a new smartphone; Honor Play 8A. This device, although being in the budget category, has some pretty impressive specs. It has an average 6.09-inch screen, 3GB of RAM,  32GB or 64GB of storage and even runs the latest Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Lets find out more.

Huawei Honor Play 8A Design And Display

The body of the Honor Play 8A is made up of plastic with metal frame all around which is pretty standard for a budget device. At the back is free of a fingerprint sensor which leaves the face Unlock through the front camera as the only biometric verification/authentication option.

There is also one camera at the back and one up front in the teardrop/waterdrop notch. As for the display, it sports a 6.09-inch 720p IPS display. The chin at the bottom houses the Honor name. Overall, the device weigh 150 grams, measures 8.0mm in thickness and has four colour options; Blue, Gold, Red and Black.

Huawei Honor Play 8A Camera Review

There are only two cameras on this device which isn’t much but is pretty decent given the price. Each sides get one camera. The front facing camera here on the Honor Play 8A is a single 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera is also a single camera setup; a 13MP shooter with f/1.8 aperture with PDAF.

Huawei Honor Play 8A Hardware and Software

Running the show on the Inside is one of MediaTek’s newest Chipset; MediaTek Helio P35 which has an octa-core processor, clocking speeds of up to 2.3GHz accompanied by a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. For RAM, this device has 3GB and for storage it has either 32GB or 64GB which can both be expanded using a MicroSD card. Honor Play 8A runs EMUI 9.0 out of the box which is based on the latest Android operating system; Android 9.0 Pie.

Battery & Network Connectivity

Honor stuffed a 3,020mAh batter Inside this device which also equipped with fast charging. Other features are as expected; 4G LTE, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, Bluetooth, GPS and a microUSB port for file transfer and of course, charging. Not NFC and obviously, no fingerprint sensor here.

Huawei Honor Play 8A is priced at around $129 which is approximately N45,000. It is only available in china, for now. Hopefully, it leaves the shores of china to other markets.
