Qualcomm QM215 Chipset for Android Go Devices coming soon

Qualcomm is one of the top chip manufacturers. The company chips are been used by top phone manufacturing companies. Recently, the company introduced the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712. But days after Qualcomm released the 712 chipsets, they are set to release another chipset that is simple and affordable.

This new chip will be for Android Go phones and other affordable phones. According to them, the chip is named QM215 and will not likely be in the Snapdragon line up. That makes us believe that the chip might be promoted as the Qualcomm Mobile 215 platform instead.

Even though the chip comes with a different name, it still relates to the Snapdragon 410 and 425. The QM215 will still come with the normal quad-core CPU (with Cortex – A53 cores likely) clocked at 1.3GHz with GPU clocked at 650MHz. We are not sure yet if the chip will be produced on a 28nm process just like the 410/425 or something new.

But we already knew that some reference designs that have 1GB or 2GB of the old LPDDR3 RAM and 8GB internal storage are being tested by Qualcomm. And we think that it matches the Android Go theory. Huawei which seems to be participating in the project is currently trying out phones with 720p+ screens and fingerprint readers.
