Samsung finally released the much anticipated Samsung Galaxy M10 alongside the Samsung Galaxy M20 which are both in the budget segment. Both devices are also the first two Samsung smartphones to sport the notch which Samsung is calling the “infinity V display”. Anyway, we will be taking a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy M10 here. For a budget smartphone, it has a couple of things going for it. Let’s have a look at its specs.
Design And Display
The Samsung Galaxy M10 is equipped with a massive 6.22-inch PLS TFT panel which has a 720 x 1520 pixels screen resolution (270 ppi) and of course, a 19:9 aspect ratio with an “infinity V-display” as Samsung calls it which has the front-facing camera tucked into it.
Bezels at the top and sides are very minimal however, there is a significant amount of chin down at the bottom. The back of the device is free of the fingerprint sensor but it does have dual cameras at the top left side with an LED flash just Underneath. Obviously, the device is made of plastic. It also weighs 163grams, measures 7.7mm in thickness and has only two colours; Ocean Blue and Charcoal Blue.
Samsung Galaxy M10 Camera Review
The camera setup here on the Samsung Galaxy M10 is pretty standard. At the rear is a combination of a main 13MP shooter with an f/1.9 aperture and PDAF alongside a secondary 5MP depth sensor camera with an f/2.2 aperture. It features an LED flash for low light photos, Panorama for wide angle pictures and HDR for High Dynamic Range. The dual rear cameras can also record videos at 1080p resolution at 30fps. Tucked in the Infinity V notch at the front is the single front-facing 5MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture which is equipped with HDR as well and can record 1080p videos, also at 30fps.
Hardware and Software
Samsung’s in-house Chipset – Exynos 7870 Octa – powers this device which a 14nm Octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, paired with a Mali-T830 MP1 GPU. There are two configurations available for the Samsung Galaxy M10; the 2GB RAM variant which comes with 16GB of Internal storage and the 3GB RAM Variant which comes with 32GB of internal storage. Both of which are expandable via the dedicated MicroSD card slot of up to 512GB. Unfortunately, this device runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Samsung experience 9.5 UI on top. Hopefully, it gets Android 9.0 Pie with Samsung’s New OneUI sometime in the future.
Battery & Network Connectivity
Battery capacity is at 3,400mAh which isn’t bad at this price point. Also, there is no fast charging here. However, it has other features like 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot, GPS, FM radio and a microUSB port.
Samsung Galaxy M10 Price and Availability
Samsung Galaxy M10 has a fairly decent price tag at just $120 for the based 2GB/16GB configuration and about $150 for the bigger 3GB/32GB configuration. The device isn’t on sale yet as at the time of writing this.
