Sony Xperia 1 Announced with the First 4K OLED Mobile Screen; Is the First Sony Featuring Triple Camera
The Sony Xperia 1 has been released as the evolution of the XZ Premium smartphones. The mobile device comes with the first-ever 4K OLED screen display that has an extra-tall aspect ratio of 21:9 and also features first triple camera of the Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation.
Its 6.5-inch display is called CinemaWide for more than the aspect ratio it offers. The new flagship integrates the X1-style image processing, which was borrowed from premium Bravia TVs, with the color configuration of professional master monitors, manufactured by Tokyo-based Sony.
The Xperia 1’s display has a resolution of 3840 pixels by 1644 pixels and supports HDR (BT.2020). Netflix and Amazon already offer 21:9 HDR content that you can enjoy on the smartphone and the experience will further be improved by Dolby Atmos sound (which is a first for Xperia), provided by the stereo speakers (earpiece as well as a bottom-firing speaker).
It features a rear camera setup comprising three 12-MP modules. The primary snapper has a 1/2.6-inch sensor, along with an f/1.6 lens with Optical SteadyShot (OIS+EIS) as well as Dual Pixel autofocus. The last 2 cameras let you zoom in (2x telephoto lens, 52 millimeters) or out (ultra-wide lens, 16 millimeters).
The latest Sony Xperia 1 draws power from the Snapdragon 855 chipset, which works in conjunction with 6 gigabytes (GB) of RAM and built-in storage of 64/128 gigabytes (expandable up to 512 gigabytes via microSD cards).
This smartphone packs a 3330-mAh battery, in addition to Battery Care, also developed by Sony, for slower overnight charging, and Smart Stamina mode. The Xperia 1 supports USB Power Delivery, but there will not be this kind of charger in the box.
In the tradition of Sony, the device is IP68 waterproof and can upgrade to Gorilla Glass 6 for its front as well as back, with the chassis being metal, expectedly. The handset has a fingerprint reader on the side, which is separate from the Power button, this time around.
The Xperia 1, Sony says, will hit stores around late spring. Pricing and other specific details are to be made known later on.
