Sony Xperia 10 and 10 Plus Go Official with 21:9 Screens, Dual Cameras

Sony has contrived a novel market strategy and adopted a new naming scheme. So, there is nothing like X’s, nothing like A’s as the newly unveiled premium mid-rangers are known as “Xperia 10”. There are two of such new devices: The Sony Xperia 10 and the Xperia 10 Plus, both with 21:9 screens like that of the Xperia 1 flagship device.

Sony Xperia 10 Plus

You can consider the Xperia 10 Plus as a budget-friendly version of the new Sony flagship. Its 6.5-inch screen, with an aspect ratio of 21:9, is exactly as large as that of the Xperia 1, though it is an IPS LCD that has a resolution of 1,080 pixels by 2,520 pixels. Its 3000-mAh battery is also almost as big.

The 10 Plus sports dual rear cameras, featuring a 12-MP primary module (1/2.8-inch sensor) as well as an 8-MP telephoto camera (2x zoom, just for taking photos). This phone has the capability to record 4K videos in 16:9 and 21:9 formats and comes with SteadyShot (electronic stabilization). The 8-MP secondary selfie camera can be likened to that of the Xperia 1.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset provides a performance upgrade over the old XA2 handsets since it has 4 Cortex-A73 based cores, coupled with the A53 cores. The 10 Plus offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB with a microSD card).

Sony Xperia 10 and 10 Plus Announced with Dual Cameras

The Xperia 10 has a more compact design and features a 6.0-inch screen, still with the same aspect ratio of 21:9 and 1080p+ resolution. This implies that this device is just 68mm wide.

Its dual rear camera setup (13MP+5MP) loses the telephoto module, and the secondary unit is only a depth sensor. On the plus side, its shooter is still capable of doing 4K video recording and comes with SteadyShot. The 8MP front-facing selfie snapper makes another appearance.

The phone’s chipset is the old Qualcomm Snapdragon 630, working in tandem with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage (expandable). Its battery capacity, 2,870mAh, is a bit close to that of the 10 Plus. None of the 2 phones supports quick charging.
