Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is the First Phone With Qualcomm Snapdragon 712
A few weeks ago, we disclosed that Qualcomm has introduced a new chip – the Snapdragon 712. The new chip has not been used on any smartphone. But today, Xiaomi launched a new flagship called “Xiaomi Mi 9”. The company CEO Lei Junas introduced the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE (special edition) which will come with the Snapdragon 712 chipset. That will make the flagship the first phone to use the chip. The device features a 48MP camera. The front of the device houses a UD fingerprint scanner while the back features the Sony IMX586 sensor.
The Mi 9 SE came with 5.97 – inches AMOLED panel with the top housing a waterdrop notch and with a slightly thicker bezel on the bottom. That makes the Mi 9 SE smaller than the main flagship. The Snapdragon 712 is joined by 6GB RAM and 64/128GB internal storage.
Analyzing the new SoC, you will see that it is almost the same with the SD710 but seems to have a much faster CPU. But the device was still built on the same 10nm finfet process. The modem still supports all the normal Wi-Fi standards, Bluetooth and dual LTE.
There is a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and 8MP telephoto lens in the main shooter so as to keep it smooth. With the 20MP front-facing camera, you will enjoy all the beauty filters for those that love snapping pictures and posting online.
The battery capacity is 3,070mAh and it supports fast charging and it is capped at 18W. Sadly the phone did not come with a 3.5mm audio jack. It means that you will have to depend on the USB – C port or wireless headphones. Other unique features that the phone came with includes; latest MIUI 10, Game Turbo Booster and an NFC chip. The colour remains the same as the normal Xiaomi Mi 9 – Blue, Black and Violet. The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE will cost between CYN1,999($300/€262) and CYN2,999 ($340/€300).
