  • Open the Messenger app to set up the app. Close it afterword.
  • Proceed to download and install a terminal application on your device. You go for either Termux or Terminal Emulator.
  • Launch the Termux app and type “su” then press Enter to allow root privilege.
  • Now type: am start-nfacebook.orca/com.facebook.abtest.gkprefs.GkSettingsListActivity” in the terminal and hit enter. A secret menu should appear, then tap on “Search Gatekeepers” and type “dark”. Change all of the results to “Yes” by tapping on each of them and exit the applications.
  • Launch Facebook Messenger and tap on your profile picture and then scroll down the settings menu.
  • Click on the option to enable the dark mode.

If after your first try you could not find the option in the menu and thus, unable to activate the dark mode, just force close the app and retry the steps until you get it working just fine.
