Google Pixel 4 & 4 XL debuts with Improved Cameras & 90Hz OLED Display

The wait is finally over as Google launches their 2019 flagships – Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL.

One of the categories that differentiate both devices is the display. The Google Pixel 4 is more compact thanks to its 5.7-inch OLED display with HD+ resolution.

While the Pixel 4 XL is the more with a larger display measuring 6.3-inch and features QHD+ resolution. Both displays feature a 90Hz refresh rate, which is enabled by the “Smooth Display” feature. There is no notch to make things complicated. Google kept it simple, which sees both phones with a 19:9 aspect ratio.

The camera is the same on both Pixel phones. At the rear is a dual-camera module consisting of a 12MP main sensor with Dual Pixel autofocus and a 16MP secondary sensor with 2x optical zoom. Both camera sensors feature optical and electric image stabilization.

The camera module of the Pixel phones is similar to what we saw on the iPhone 11. Inside the module of the  Pixel phones is a spectral & flicker sensor, which is technically not a camera. At the front top bezel is the dual selfie camera featuring an 8MP wide sensor and 3D TOF camera.

Powering the two Pixel phones is the Snapdragon 855 SoC which is coupled with 6GB RAM. Available storage options are 64GB and 128GB. Sadly, there is no microSD slot for additional storage. The Pixel 4 packs a small 2,800 mAh battery while the Pixel 4 XL packs a 3,700 mAh battery. Both devices support 18W USB Power Delivery fast charging and also Qi-wireless charging.

Clearly White, Just Black, and Oh So Orange, are the three body colour options. Pre-order is now available in some countries. Shipping is scheduled to start on October 21st in Europe and Australia. The next day, October 22nd will be for Taiwan and the US. While the European market will get theirs on October 28th.

The 6/64GB model starts at $799 for Pixel 4 and an extra $100 gets you the Pixel 4 XL ($899). While the 6/128GB model costs $899 for Pixel 4 and $999 for the Pixel 4 XL.
