Chinese smartphone company, Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 8T during a launch event today. Headlining the event is much-anticipated Xiaomi Mi Note 10.
The Redmi Note 8T is similar to the Redmi Note 8 we saw a few weeks ago. The device comes with a 6.3-inch waterdrop notch display and FHD+ resolution. Inside the notch is a decent 13MP f/2.0 selfie camera with HDR and panorama. At the back is the same four-camera module featured on the Redmi Note 8. The module consists of a 48MP f/1.8 main sensor, an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor, 2MP f/2.4 macro camera and 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. This camera setup is capable of shooting videos in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second and features gyro-EIS.
Inside the Redmi phone is Snapdragon 665 SoC coupled with either 3GB or 4GB RAM. Its storage options are 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. There is also room for additional storage thanks to a microSD slot. The device runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. There is no word on if it gets upgraded to MIUI 11. But we do know the Redmi Note 8 is upgradeable to MIUI 11.
The Redmi Note 8T supports NFC which was not included in the Redmi Note 8. Its battery capacity is pegged at 4,000 mAh capacity and supports an 18W fast charger out of the box.
The device will be available in Azul Estelar (Blue), Blanco Lunar (White) and Gris Medianoche (Black) body colours. Initial sales will start with the 4/64GB variant for €199 on the 18th of November in Spain and Italy. This will be followed by France on November 13, and Germany on November 15. The remaining two memory variants; 3/32GB (€179) and 4/128GB (€249) will be released slowly as the device expand across the European market.
