Infinix Hot 8 has the upper hand here as it is geared towards the power user while Hot 8 Lite tries to offer almost the same thing but will lesser specs and of course at a much-reduced price.

Infinix Hot 8 vs Hot 8 lite – Design & Display
Infinix Hot 8 is rocking a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display while the Hot 8 Lite is rocking a 6.6-inch display, also IPS LCD. Both devices here have an HD+ (720p resolution) with a 269ppi on the Hot 8 and a 266ppi on the Hot 8 Lite.
They both also have a waterdrop notch at the top of the display housing the front-facing camera and a small chin down below.
Infinix Hot 8 has a triple camera setup at the back with a fingerprint sensor while the Hot 8 Lite has only two cameras, also with an LED flash and a fingerprint sensor.
Overall, the infinix Hot 8 weighs 179grams, 4grams smaller than the Hot 8 Lite which weighs 175. However, both still measure 8.7mm in thickness.
Both devices come in the same colour options which are Quetzal Cyan, Cosmic Purple, Shark Grey and Midnight Black.
Hardware & Software
In the hardware department, the infinix Hot 8 comes in two variants. One with a Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 Chipset – a 12nm Quad-core SoC clocked at 2.0GHz – and 2GB of RAM coupled with 32GB of internal storage.
The other one which comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage has a Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22; a 12nm octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. But this version is only available in India, so it’s safe to call it the Hot 8 Pro. Both variants come with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU.
As for the Hot 8 Lite, it has just one variant which has a Mediatek MT6580 SoC; a Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. This is paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Speaking of storage, the infinix Hot 8 can accommodate up to 256GB via a microSD card while the Hot 8 Lite can only go as high as 128GB.
As for software, the infinix Hot 8 is running infinix’s own XOS 5.0 cheetah which is based on the Android 9.0 Pie. Hot 8 Lite, on the other hand, is running the Go edition of Android 8.1 Oreo.
Camera, Battery & Connectivity
Starting off the camera is an 8MP shooter in the notch for selfies on both devices. This front-facing camera comes with an f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. Turning over to the rear, we have a triple camera setup on the infinix Hot 8 which consists of a main 13MP shooter with an f/1.8 aperture and PDAF, 2MP depth sensor camera and a QVGA low light sensor camera
Hot 8 Lite on the other hand only has two cameras; an 8MP main camera, also with an f/1.8 and PDAF alongside a QVGA low light sensor camera. Both device’s rear cameras are equipped with a Quad-LED flash, panorama, HDR and can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps as well.
Battery capacity on both devices here stands at 5,000mAh with no word on fast charging support on any. Infinix Hot 8 has 4G LTE connectivity while the Hot 8 Lite doesn’t. However, both devices do have Bluetooth, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, GPS, FM radio and a 3.5mm jack with Dirac sound.
Infinix Hot 8 vs Hot 8 lite – Price & Verdict
Infinix Hot 8 costs about N35,000 – N36,000 Naira in Nigeria. Meanwhile, Hot 8 Lite costs just N32,000.
If you want 4G in your phone with a slightly powerful Chipset and a triple camera setup then you can go for the infinix Hot 8. However, Hot 8 Lite has a slightly bigger display and costs less. It all depends on what you want.
