Infinix Mobile has just released the 5th generation of its S-series smartphone. The new Infinix S5 is the successor of the Infinix S4, which was released earlier this year. Since both smartphones were released in 2019 in space of over 6 months, you must be asking yourself now if the S5 is a worthy upgrade. Infinix S4 vs Infinix S5 Specs and Price
Design
In terms of design, both Infinix smartphones are similar. They feature a front glass with polycarbonate unibody. But for the Infinix S5, the back features lines in a slant vertical position. This will ensure the device doesn’t slip off from your hand.
The Infinix S4 has a waterdrop notch which houses the selfie camera. While the S5 features a punch-hole. Both devices feature a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.
The rear camera module is set up differently though. On the S4, the LED flash is not inside the camera module, it’s positioned just underneath it. While for the S5, the LED flash is inside the module with the three cameras.
The Infinix S4 comes in Space grey, Nebula blue, and Twilight purple colours. While the S5 comes in just Quetzal Cyan and Violet colours.
Display
The Infinix S5 has a bigger display size amongst the two. It features a 6.6-inch IPS LCD with 720 x 1600 pixels resolution. While the S4 features a 6.26-inch display with 720 x 1560 pixels resolution. Both displays are protected by a 2.5D curved glass and feature 20:9 aspect ratio.
Camera
The camera department gets a well-deserved upgrade. The Infinix S5 comes with a total of five cameras, four at the back and one at the front.
The back module features a 16MP main sensors, 5MP wide-angle sensor, a 2MP depth sensor and another 2MP Macro lens.
While at the back of the S4 is a triple camera setup consisting of a 13MP main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle sensor and a 2MP depth sensor.
The selfie camera department remains unchanged though. As both devices feature a 32MP selfie camera which is located in the notch of the S4 and in the punch-hole of the S5.
Hardware and Software
The chipset inside the Infinix S4 is the same one found inside the S5. Infinix, really? No upgraded chipset? Alright.
Both Infinix features MediaTek Helio P22 chipset with Octa-core processor. The Infinix S4 comes in two memory options; 3GB/32GB & 6GB/64GB. While the Infinix S5 comes in only the 4GB/64GB memory option. Both the Infinix S4 and S5 runs on XOS UI skin based on Android 9 Pie.
Battery
Battery capacity is the same here. Both the Infinix S4 and S5 are equipped with a 4,000 mAh battery.

Price and Verdict
The 3GB/32GB base model of the Infinix S4 costs N45,500. The 6GB/64GB model costs around N55,500-N60,000 to purchase. While for the Infinix S5 which comes in only a 4GB/64GB memory, costs N47,500. Honestly, you’re better off buying the Infinix S5. It has a bigger display size and better camera specs.
