MediaTek, on Tuesday, launched Helio G90 and Helio G90T in India. Under the Helio G series, the manufacturer has introduced the 2 new chipsets, specifically built for gaming purposes. Though both chipsets are mid-rangers, MediaTek Helio G90T is the slightly higher variant of the 2.
They’re designed to slug it out with Snapdragon 730 & 730G — 2 recently launched chipsets from American rival Qualcomm. While the MediaTek Helio G90 will compete directly with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, the Helio G90T will battle the Snapdragon 730G.

Helio G90 vs. Snapdragon 730: Manufacturing Process
While MediaTek Helio G90 works on the 12nm manufacturing process, Snapdragon 730 works on the 8nm manufacturing process. Since a difference of 4nm exists between the 2 processors, Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 offers higher power efficiency than its rival.
Helio G90 vs. Snapdragon 730: CPU and GPU
In the CPU department, the Helio G90 features an Octa-Core CPU, which is based on 64-bit architecture. The chip comes with 2+6 CPU Configuration. The first 2 Cortex-A76 big cores have a clock speed of 2GHz, and the other 6 Cortex-A55 small cores run at 2GHz.
As for Snapdragon 730, it equally features 64-bit Octa-Core CPU, including 2+6 Configuration with Kryo 470 Cores. The Kryo 470 Cores contain 2 Cortex-A76 Gold Cores, which have a clock speed of 2.2GHz while the other 6 Cortex-A55 Silver Cores operate at 1.8GHz. In this case, the speed of the first 2 powerful cores (of Snapdragon 730) is higher than that of the Helio G90, while the other 6 small cores (of Helio G90) run at a higher frequency than those in the other chip.
Concerning GPU, Snapdragon 730 is built with Adreno 618 GPU that operates at 500MHz. It’s an upgrade over all previous GPUs in the Adreno 600 series.
The GPU MediaTek Helio G90 features better a GPU, which is ARM’s Mali G76 MP4 GPU, clocked at 720MHz. As the Helio G90 is a gaming-centric processor, it is not surprising that it has a better GPU. Thus, as regards gaming and other graphical tasks, it is leading the Snapdragon 730.
Helio G90 vs. Snapdragon 730: Camera Support
With respect to camera support, the Snapdragon 730 offers Spectra 350 Image ISP that’s a 14-bit 2x Image Signal Processor. The chipset provides support for a dual camera that has up to 22MP at 30fps MFNR & ZSL.
Concerning a single cam, it has the capability to support as much as a 36MP single camera sensor at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL. But with only MFNR, it can support up to 48-MP cam sensor, and 192-MP cam sensor without MFNR & ZSL.

Helio G90 vs. Snapdragon 730: Performance in AnTuTu and Geekbench
On Tuesday, MediaTek G90 announced that its Helio G90 chipset, which is gaming-focused, outperforms the Snapdragon 730 in AnTuTu and Geekbench. The Helio G90 and G90T will bring excellent gaming experience on a budget due to their cost-effective TSMC 12nm FinFET manufacturing process, the maker rehashed. In the first benchmarks, the score sheet from AnTuTu looks quite promising with the overall score standing at 222,282. This combines the CPU, GPU, UX as well as memory performance.
