Olla M8 Plus is the advanced version of Olla M8 Plus and one of the new smartphones from Opera-owned brand. All six smartphones will be available in the Nigerian market, as the company looks to compete with the likes of itel, Tecno and Infinix.

For the purpose of this article, we will be looking at the OLLA M8 Plus which is a pro version of the OLLA M8.

Olla M8

The design of the OLLA M8 Plus is identical with the OLLA M8. It comes with a plastic unibody build with curved edges. There is a fingerprint scanner at the back and also a dual-camera setup. The phone is also available in two body colours; Green and Black. This Plus version measures 166.7 x 75.8 x 8.4 mm in dimensions and has a slightly bigger display at the front.


The display of the OLLA M8 Plus measures 6.0-inch which is 0.23 inches bigger than the display of the OLLA M8. The additional display inch will be needed for that cinematic experience when watching movies on the device. The display uses the IPS LCD technology and features 720 x 1600 resolution with 19:9 aspect ratio.

Hardware and Software

Powering the OLLA M8 Plus is the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset with Quad-Core processor clocking at 1.3 GHz. The chip comes with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The phone comes in only one memory option; 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. You can get additional storage via a dedicated microSD slot up to 128GB. The operating system running on the phone is Android 9 Pie.


The OLLA M8 Plus comes with a dual rear camera of 8MP and 0.3MP lens. On paper, the OLLA M8 features better camera specs and is worth opting for if you’re a camera lover. On the front side of the M8 Plus is a 5MP selfie camera that is capable of recording 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.


Just as the OLLA M8 features a better camera, it also comes with slightly bigger battery capacity. The M8 Plus packs a non-removable Li-ion 2,800 mAh battery which is 200 mAh less than what is available on the OLLA M8. No fast charging for either device as they support the standard 5W charging.

Price and Availability

The OLLA M8 Plus will be available in the Nigerian market from February 25, 2020, with a starting price of N22,000.
