Oppo just added a new smartphone to its Reno line up dubbed the Oppo Reno Z, unlike the other three siblings; the Oppo Reno, Reno 10x Zoom and Reno 5G that all comes with no notch and a pop-up mechanism that houses the selfie camera, this uses the good old water-drop notch that cuts into its 6.4-inch display. It also has a MediaTek Helio P90 on the inside with 6GB of RAM and two storage options – 128GB/256GB. It has a dual camera at the back, one up front and is powered by a 4,035mAh battery with support for VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

Oppo Reno Z Design And Display
Oppo Reno Z has a big 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and notch that cuts into the display which holds the front facing camera. There is also a little chin at the bottom. It has a glass on top of the display for protection and also has a glass at the back with a plastics frame all around. Going back to the display, it features an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric unlock and also supports HDR10 contents. Turning over to the back reveals the dual rear facing the camera and an LED flash.
The device weighs 186grams and measures 9.1mm in thickness, all thanks to the massive battery on the inside. It also has a dual SIM card slot but lacks a microSD card slot so no storage expansion here. As for the colour options, there are four colours to choose from which includes Star Purple, Extreme Night Black, Coral Orange and Bead White.
Oppo Reno Z Camera Review
Oppo Reno Z has the same 48MP main camera accompanied by the secondary 5MP depth sensor camera as found on the other Reno devices. The main 48MP camera has an f/1.7 aperture with PDAF while the 5MP depth sensor camera has an f/2.4 aperture. Features of the rear-facing camera include a dual-LED flash, HDR and Panorama. It can also shoot 2160p Videos but only at 30fps while videos shot in 1080p can go as high as 120fps with gyro-EIS.
The notch at the top of the display is home to the single 32MP front facing the camera with an f/2.0 aperture which has HDR and can also shoot 1080p videos but at 30fps.
Hardware and Software
Oppo Reno Z ditches Snapdragon and goes with MediaTek. It uses the MediaTek Helio P90 SoC which is an octa-core processor based on the newer 12nm process technology and is clocked at 2.0GHz with a PowerVR GM9446 GPU for graphics and gaming. This is hooked up to 6GB of RAM with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. It runs Oppo’s ColorOS 6.0 out of the box like its other siblings which is based on Android 9.0 Pie.
Battery and Connectivity
A 4,035mAh battery powers this device which supports Oppo’s 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging through it’s USB Type-C port which can also be used for file transfer. It also has 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, dual-band WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, GPS, NFC and support for USB On The Go.
