Motorola Edge Plus is the First Moto’s Real Flagship with 5G, SD865 and 108MP Camera

Motorola has launched two new smartphones targeting the 5G market. The Motorola Edge and Edge Plus shares not only the 5G connectivity but also design and quad-camera system.

The Motorola Edge Plus is the first Proper Flagship from the brand with whopping 108MP camera and 5G support.

Its been a while since the company released a smartphone for the high-end segment. The Moto Edge Plus comes with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display which features HDR10+ and 90Hz refresh rate. A 25MP selfie camera is housed inside the punch-hole located at the top left of the display. Underneath the display is a fingerprint reader.

The quad rear camera system features a 108MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 4-in-1 pixel binning, an 8MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, a 16MP ultrawide sensor with 116° FoV and a ToF 3D camera.

Under the hood is the latest Snapdragon 865 chipset which is paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. The US version of the Moto Edge+ will support mmWave 5G. You can get up to 4Gbps download speeds on the US launch partner network – Verizon. For the global market, the device will support sub-6GHz 5G.

The Moto Edge+ packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W fast wired charging via USB-C. The smartphone will be exclusive to Verizon in the US market and will go on sale from May 14 in Thunder Grey and Smokey Sangria body colours. It will cost a one-time payment of $1,000 or a $41.66 monthly payment for two years.

The Motorola Edge

The Moto Edge features the same display as the Plus variant. In terms of hardware, it features Snapdragon 765G with the only sub-6GHz network. The North America version comes with a 4GB/128GB memory. While the global version features a 6GB/128GB memory.

The selfie camera is no different. While the main lens of the quad rear camera is reduced to 64MP. Battery capacity is 4,500 mAh with the same 18W fast wired charging. No Qi wireless charging support which is available on the Moto Edge+.

The device will be available in Solar Black and Midnight Magenta body colour. Its starting price is €599 and is expected to hit Europe, Latin America and the Asia Pacific in May. While the US market will follow after that.
