Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi just held an online launching event where they announced the new Redmi Note 9S. The smartphone is the global version of the Note 9 Pro.
The new phone comes with an IPS LCD display that measures 6.67-inch in size. The display panel features 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. According to the company, the phone is capable of reaching up to 450 nits brightness and supports HDR10. The display is being protected by Corning gorilla glass 5. At the top middle of the display is a punch-hole which Xiaomi refers to as “Tiny DotDisplay”. This punch-hole houses a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.5 aperture. The camera is capable of recording 120fps slow-motion videos.
The camera module at the back is square-shaped. This module consists of a 48MP f/1.8 main camera, an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide unit, a 5MP macro unit and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots.
Inside the Note 9S is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G which is married with a 4GB and 6GB RAM. The 4GB RAM is paired with a 64GB storage while the 6GB has a 128GB storage. Of course, storage can be expanded via the microSD slot.
The smartphone depends on a 5,020 mAh battery for light. This battery can be charged with a 22.5W charger. Other notable features include the side-mounted fingerprint reader, IR blaster and 3.5mm headphone jack.
The device will be available from April 7 in Interstellar Grey, Aurora Blue, and Glacier White. AliExpress will handle international shipping. The 4GB/64GB will cost $249 while the 6GB/128GB goes for $279.
