Not too many people are aware of this but Royole was the first company to launch a foldable smartphone.
The second generation of its foldable smartphone comes with an improved hinge, decent pricing, and attractive specs and features. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset which is paired with either of two memory configurations – 8/256GB and 12/512GB. It features its own UI called WaterOS 2.0 and is based on Google’s Android 10 OS.
The Royole Flexpai 2 features a dual-screen display when the hinge is at 180° with the panel folding outward. The company refers to this technology as the “Cicada Wing 3S”. The display was subjected to over 1.8 million folds and there was no crease. The unfolded display measures 7.8″ with 1440p resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio. But when folded, the front display measures 5.5″ while the back display comes in at 5.4″.
The left-hand side of the smartphone is home to four impressive cameras. The main one is a 64MP shooter with an f/1.9 aperture and 6P lens. Second is a 16MP ultra-wide-angle shooter with 116° FoV, followed by an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The last one is a 32MP dedicated portrait lens for selfies.
The Flexpai 2 packs a 4,450 mAh battery capacity and supports Quick Charge 4.0 technology at 18W. It comes in three colours – Gold, Black and Silver.
Starting from September 25, the foldable smartphone will be available for purchase on JD.com and the company’s website. The 8/256GB base model will cost CNY9,988/$1,470/€1,250 while the 12/512GB model goes for CNY11,588/$1,700/€1,450.
