Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and Oppo Find X2 Pro are both high-end flagship devices with crazy specifications and features. It is safe to assume that if you are looking to get either one of these devices then your budget is pretty high.
Both devices are also within the same price ranges and have a lot of similarities however, one must come out on top so let’s see which one that will be.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Vs Oppo Find X2 Pro
Design & Display
Starting with the display, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a slightly smaller 6.9-inch display compared to the 6.7-inch display on the Oppo Find X2 Pro. Both displays have a 1440p (QHD) resolution with above 500ppi. Both devices also have their display protection by a slab of glass, Corning gorilla glass 6 to be exact.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra’s display supports HDR10+ contents and has a 120Hz refresh rate (at 1080p FHD resolution) and 240Hz touch sensing.
Oppo Find X2 Pro on the other also has the 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch-sensing but caps out at HDR10. They both have their fingerprint sensor underneath their displays; Ultrasonic for Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and good old Optical for the Oppo Find X2 Pro.
Both devices here are using a punch-hole setup for their front-facing camera albeit in different positions. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has its own in the top centre while Oppo Find X2 Pro has its own at the top left corner.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a glass back while Oppo Find X2 Pro has either ceramic or leather, with an aluminium frame on both devices. Samsung Galaxy S20 has a total of 5 cameras, with 4 being at the rear while Oppo has one less camera at the rear with a total of 4.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra weighs 220grams and measures 8.8mm in thickness while the Oppo Find X2 Pro weighs either 207grams or 200grams with 8.8mm or 9.5mm in thickness depending on if you opt for the one with ceramic or leather back respectively.
As for the available colours, Oppo Find X2 Pro comes in black or orange while Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comes in cosmic grey or cosmic black.
Hardware & Software
Both the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and the Oppo Find X2 Pro are sporting the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC; a Chipset with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.84GHz paired with an Adreno 650 GPU.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra also has another variant with its own SoC; an Exynos 990 Chipset which also has an octa-core processor clocked at 2.73GHz paired with a Mali-G77 MP11 GPU.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a lot of options to choose from when it comes to RAM/Storage. There is one with 12GB of RAM which comes with 128GB or 256GB of ufs 3.0 internal storage while the other comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB ufs 3.0 storage. All configurations also have a microSD card slot for more storage.
Oppo Find X2, on the other hand, has just had one variant; one with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage, also ufs 3.0.
Both devices here also come with Android 10 out of the box with their respective skins slapped on top; One UI 2.0 for the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and ColorOS 7.1 for the Oppo Find X2 Pro.
Camera, Battery & Connectivity
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has 5 cameras, 4 of which are at the back. The rear camera consists of a 108MP main camera, 48MP telephoto camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 0.3MP time of flight camera. Features of the camera include PDAF, OIS, 10x hybrid optical, LED flash, auto-HDR and Panorama.
For selfies, it has a 40MP camera with PDAF and Auto-HDR. The selfies camera tops out at 2160p videos recording at 30/60fps while the rear-facing camera can shoot up to 4320p videos at 24fps.
Oppo Find X2 Pro on the other has a 48MP camera as its main camera on the back, accompanied by a 13MP periscope camera and a 48MP ultrawide camera. Similar to the other device, this camera here also has a dual-LED dual-tone flash, PDAF, OIS, Laser AF, 5x optical zoom and HDR.
The rear camera here tops out at 2160p videos at 30/60fps while the single 32MP front-facing camera with HDR can only go as high as 1080p video recording at 30/60fps. Check our Camera review between the two devices here
In the battery department, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comes out on top with a 5,000mAh battery compared to the 4,260mAh on the Oppo Find X2 Pro. However, the Oppo Find X2 Pro has a 65W fast battery charging which can get the device to 100 from 0 in just 38mins. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, on the other hand, has just 45W fast charging.
Both devices have the USB Type-C port and support the USB power delivery standard but only the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has 15W wireless charging and 9W reverse wireless charging.
In terms of connectivity, both devices here have 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, dual-band WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot, GPS and NFC. 3.5mm jack is nowhere to be found on both devices.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Vs Oppo Find X2 Pro – Price & Verdict
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and Oppo Find X2 Pro are almost in the price bracket of $1,200 – $1,400 and I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that anyone contemplating which device to buy between these two has the cash for any he wants to buy.
With that being said, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra seems to be a bit ahead here with its 108MP camera and other specifications – like battery and wireless charging.
Now, if you love a really powerful Android phone that is not as expensive as the Galaxy S20 Ultra, with a battery that charges really fast then Oppo Find X2 Pro is also a good buy. They are both similar devices, and the best Android devices on the market right now. You can’t go wrong with any of these phones, to be honest.
