Samsung has announced the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The foldable smartphone which was scheduled for release during the August 5 Unpacked event inherits most of the specs and features of the Galaxy Z Flip.
The biggest change is the Snapdragon 865+ chipset with a 5G modem. As well as two brand new body colours – Mystic Grey and Mystic Bronze. Running inside the foldable smartphone is Samsung’s One UI 2.1 based on Android 10 OS. The software comes with exclusive features that best utilize the device’s form factor. One of those features is the ‘Flex Mode’ which basically splits some apps in two like the camera, where the camera viewfinder is on the top screen and the controls in the bottom screen.
When unfolded, the device features a 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED display screen with 1080 x 2360 pixels resolution. Once the device is folded, there is a 1.1″ Super AMOLED display panel with 112 x 320 pixels resolution.
Speaking of cameras, there are two positioned at the back – a 12MP f/1.8 main lens and a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens. Inside of the phone i.e. when it is not folded, there is a 10MP f/2.4 selfie camera with auto-focus.
The Samsung Galaxy Flip Z will go on sale on August 7 while pre-order starts today in Germany. In the US, the device will be available via T-Mobile and AT&T at $1,450. Germans can purchase the smartphone via T-Mobile for €829 with a monthly plan. And if you order before August 6, you’ll be gifted a limited box worth up to €300.
