TECNO Camon 11, a successor to the previous TECNO Camon X arrived not long ago with a new chipset and a notch. We will be taking a closer look at both devices specifications here to figure out if you should upgrade from the TECNO Camon X to the new TECNO Camon 11.
TECNO Camon 11 VS Camon X – Design & Display
TECNO Camon X has a 6.0-inch IPS LCD display with 1440 x 720 Pixels Screen Resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Camon 11, on the other hand, utilises more screen real estate with a 6.2-inch IPS LCD display with 720 x 1520 Screen Resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio, obviously with a notch which houses the necessary kinds of stuff. On the TECNO Camon X’s back is a vertically lined up single camera with an LED flash beside it while on the Camon 11’s back is a horizontally lined up Dual camera setup with Quad-LED flash underneath.
Both devices have a fingerprint sensor placed at the usual spot. Camon X has four colour options of Champagne Gold, Midnight Black, City and Blue while Camon 11 has three colours options of Midnight Black, Aqua Blue and Bordeaux Red.
TECNO Camon 11 VS Camon X – Hardware & Software
The Hardware on the Camon 11 is kind of a let down with the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset with Quad-core processors while the older Camon X has a Mediatek Helio P23 Chipset with an octa-core processor. Regardless of that, both devices still have a Max clock speed of 2.0GHz.
The RAM and Internal Storage are also pretty much the same with a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage on the Camon X and a 3GB or 4GB of RAM( depending on the vari ant you get) along with 32GB/64GB of internal storage on the Camon 11. Storage can be expanded on both devices via the onboard MicroSD card slot up to 128GB. Both devices are also running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with TECNO’s HiOS 3.3 UI on the Camon X and HiOS 4.1 on the Camon 11.
Therefore on the performance side of thing, the Camon X might still be a better device here but it depends on the version of the Camon 11 you are going for.

Camon X comes with a single 16MP rear camera with Quad-LED flash and a 20MP front-facing camera. Both the front and back facing camera are capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps. Camon 11, on the other hand, took things up a notch higher with a dual 13MP + 2MP camera set up at the back with Quad-LED flash and at the front is a single 16MP camera with also an LED flash.
The Camon 11 is capable of some background burring on both the rear and front camera while the Camon X can only achieve this on the front camera. Both cameras here can also record 1080p videos at 30fps.
Battery & Connectivity
Battery capacity stayed the same with 3,750mAh on both devices with MediaTek’s Pump Express fast charging technology for quick top-ups.
On the connectivity front, they both have Bluetooth 4.2, there is dual 4G LTE Connectivity on the Camon 11 while only one of the SIM slots on the Camon X is capable of this. They both have WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot, Micro USB and USB On The Go are all available on both of the devices.
TECNO Camon 11 VS Camon X – Price
TECNO Camon 11 will be priced within the N59,000 – N65,000 price range depending on the version you’re getting (3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB). Camon X on the other hand also has a similar price of N58,000 for the only 3GB/32GB version. As you can see the price is pretty much the same (N59,000 for the 3GB/32GB) except you want more RAM which will definitely increase the price (4GB/64GB TECNO Camon 11).
If you’re thinking about upgrading then you should go for the 4GB/64GB Camon 11, otherwise, it wouldn’t be what I would consider an upgrade.
What do you guys think about the Camon 11 in general? are getting one soon? and are you considering an upgrade from the Camon X smartphone?
