Tecno Spark Power is another addition to the list of ever-growing smartphones in the Tecno portfolio. The Tecno Spark Power is the first in its line and focuses on battery hence the “Power” in its name.

The smartphone has a 6.3-inch notched IPS LCD display, a MediatekP22 as its SoC with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage which is expandable and a massive 6,000mAh battery on the inside keeping the lights turned on. Let’s find out more.

Design And Display

Tecno Spark Power has a 6.3-inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and of course, a notch cutout up top for the front-facing camera. As expected, we have a chin at the bottom. Coming back to the display, it is an HD+ display with a 1548 x 720 resolution. Turning the device over to the back reveals the triple camera setup alongside the quad-LED flash and a fingerprint sensor for biometric Unlock.

Overall, the phone weighs about 192grams and measures 9.17mm in thickness thanks to the massive battery on the inside. Colour options available for now are champagne gold and midnight black, other colours might also be released later. It also has a dual SIM card slot and a dedicated microSD slot.

Camera Review

In the camera department, we have a total of four sitting on this device, three of which are located at the rear. The rear camera comprises of a 13MP main camera, an 8MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP dedicated macro camera for taking shots/videos of small objects up close. Features of the rear camera include the quad-LED flash for photos or videos shot in a low lit environment as well as HDR for good dynamic range.

It can also shoot 720p and 1080p videos at 30fps. As for the selfie, it has a single 13MP shooter tucked in that water-drop notch up top which also has HDR and the ability to shoot 720p and 1080p videos.

Hardware and Software

The Mediatek Helio P22 SoC on the Tecno Spark Power has an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz paired with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU for games/graphics. 4GB of RAM takes care of multitasking and 64GB of storage takes care of files. For now, this seems to be the only version available for this device.

Also, the storage on this device is expandable thanks to the dedicated microSD slot which can accommodate up to 256GB of additional storage. Tecno Spark Power runs Tecno’s own HiOS out of the box which is based on Android 9.0 Pie.

Battery and Connectivity

This device has been fitted with a 6,000mAh battery which should easily get you through the day without any issues, even on heavy usage. Unfortunately, there is no mention of fast charging so refilling the battery when it runs out can take some time.

There is also 4G LTE connectivity on this device along with other features like WiFi, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, a 3.5mm jack and a microUSB port for charging and file transfer.

Tecno Spark Power cost $119 which is about N50,000 and is set to get on sale before the year runs out (December 2019).
