Vivo’s latest gaming smartphones-the iQOO 5 & 5 Pro have been unveiled with 120Hz refresh rate and Snapdragon 865 chipset.
iQOO is looking to stake a claim in the gaming smartphone world with the release of the newest flagship-series. The new iQOO 5 and 5 Pro are identical in virtually everything. Though they are few exceptions, like the 120W fast wired charging support of the iQOO 5 Pro.
Both gaming smartphones are built around a curved 6.56″ AMOLED display and have a punch-hole cutout at the top left corner that houses a 16MP selfie camera. The display supports 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+ and 1,300nits of peak brightness. Underneath the display is an optical fingerprint reader for biometric security.
iQOO is in partnership with BMW, which is why the Pro version comes in an exclusive BMW M Motorsport flavour. The back of the device features a carbon black and white leather with BMW’s blue and red accents colours. The camera setup on the back consists of a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide snapper and an 8MP periscope lens with 5x optical and 60x hybrid zoom. For the iQOO 5, it replaces the periscope lens with a 13MP portrait lens.
The Snapdragon 865 chipset is paired with an 8/12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256GB UFS 3.1 storage. In terms of overheating when gaming or multitasking, there is a VC heat sink capable of cooling the phone’s CPU temperature by an impressive 12°C.
The iQOO 5 Pro packs a decent 4,000 mAh battery capacity with 120W fast charging support. According to iQOO, it takes only 15 minutes for the phone to go 0-100%. Whereas, the iQOO 5 packs a bigger 4,500 mAh battery capacity with reduced charging speed support of 55W.
The iQOO 5 will be available in three memory configuration: 8/128GB (CNY3,998/$576), 12/128GB (CNY4,298/$620) and a 12/256GB (CNY4,598/$662). It has two body colour options – blue and grey.
