The Xiaomi-backed gaming smartphone maker, Black Shark is back with the newest addition to their lineup. The Black Shark 4 series features two devices – Black Shark 4 and Black Shark 4 Pro. Their differences are centered around the camera and chipset departments.
Both gaming smartphones are built around a 6.67″ E4 AMOLED panel. The display sports a 144Hz refresh rate, 720Hz touch sampling rate, FHD+ resolution, and an Always-on display.
Hardware-wise, the Xiaomi Black Shark 4 is powered by the Snapdragon 870 while the Pro variants use the Snapdragon 888 chipset. The Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Pro features a two-layer liquid cooling system. According to Xiaomi, the system will lead to a 30% increase in heat dissipation and reduce the temperature of the CPU by 18°C.
The Black Shark 4’s triple rear camera setup features a 48MP main lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 5MP auxiliary lens. While the Black Shark 4 Pro retains both secondary lenses alongside a 64MP main lens. Both phones have the same 20MP selfie cam inside the display’s punch-hole.
The Xiaomi Black Shark 4 series packs a 4,500 mAh capacity out the gate. The 120W fast charging supports takes less than 15 minutes from 0% to 100%. Software-wise, the UI is JOYUI 12.5 which is based on Android 11.
The Black Shark 4 is available in three colours – Magic Black, Plain Silver, and Plain Black. The base 6/128GB version is priced at CNY2,499/$383/€322. The other three memory configuration option is 8/128GB (CNY2,699/$415/€350), 12/128GB (CNY2,999/$460/€385), and the 12/256GB (CNY3,299/$505/€425).
The Black Shark 4 Pro’s base model is 8/256GB and it retails for CNY3,999/$615/€515. The 12/256GB costs CNY4,499/$690/€580 while the mightiest 16/512GB variant goes for CNY5,299/$815/€685. Both smartphones are available for pre-orders at Black Shark’s official online store.
