Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra announced with a massive 50MP camera and two screens

Chinese phone maker Xiaomi has announced the newest member of the Mi 11 series – the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. The flagship device enters the global market along with the Mi 11i – a global variant of the Redmi K40 Pro+.

The smartphone debuts with a massive rear camera setup. It comprises a 50MP f/2.0 Samsung GN2 sensor with 4-in-1 binning and OIS, a 48MP f/4.1 Sony IMX586 periscope telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom, and another 48MP f/2.2 Sony IMX586 ultrawide sensor with 128° FoV. The camera can record 8K videos at 24fps.

The punch-hole cutout on the display houses a 20MP f/2.2 selfie cam. Its AMOLED display measures 6.81″ and features 1440p+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate (not adaptive), 480Hz touch sampling rate, and HDR10+. Around the back of the phone is another display – a 1.1″ AMOLED panel with 126 x 294 pixels resolution and 450nits peak brightness. The display can be used to show notifications and as a viewfinder when using the main cam to take selfies.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It features a new three-phase cooling system. Battery-wise, it packs a 5,000 mAh capacity and supports both 67W wired and 67W wireless charging.

In China, the Mi 11 Ultra will go on sale on April 2 in 8/256GB, 12/256GB and 12/512GB configurations. The pricing is CNY 6,000, CNY 6,500 and CNY 7,000 respectively. The phone will be available globally too in Black and White body colours. The 12/256GB variant will be available in Europe for €1,200. There will be a special Marble Ceramic edition in China with 12/512GB configuration at CNY 7,000.

Also known as the Redmi K40 Pro+ in China, the Snapdragon 888-powered device is built around a 6.67″ AMOLED display with a 360Hz touch sampling rate and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The triple camera setup consists of a 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor, a 5MP telephoto sensor and an 8MP ultrawide sensor with 119° FoV. It uses the same selfie cam specs as the Mi 11 Ultra.

The battery capacity is at 4,520 mAh and it supports 33W fast wired charging. It takes 52 minutes to full charge.

The Xiaomi Mi 11i will be available in 8/128GB (€649) and 8/256GB (€699) configurations. Its body colour options are Frosty White, Cosmic Black and Celestial Silver.
