Xiaomi just took wraps off their next flagship device – The Xiaomi Mi 9. The successor to last year’s Xiaomi Mi 8 packs some major improvement over its predecessor. It incorporates the new Snapdragon 855 chipset, a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display, a rear-facing 48MP camera accompanied by two other cameras, a 3,300mAh battery capacity with wireless Charging and runs Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 on top. Xiaomi Mi 9 Design And Display
Xiaomi Mi 9 has a huge 6.39-inch Super AMOLED 1080p display with a 403ppi and a 19:9 aspect ratio, with a notch. The front and back of the device are covered with glass, the front one being a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 while the back is a Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The device also has an aluminium frame all around and have its fingerprint sensor underneath the display leaving the back of the device with only the Triple camera setup and an LED flash which has been lined up vertically at the top left side. Colour options available are Lavender Violet, Ocean Blue and Piano Black. There is also a transparent edition and explorer edition – both of which are transparent and don’t have a colour.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Camera Review
We have a total of 4 cameras here; 3 cameras at the back and one at the front for selfies. The triple rear camera comprises of main 48MP Sony camera with an f/1.8 aperture and PDAF, a 16MP ultrawide camera with f/2.2 aperture and Lastly, a 12MP telephoto lens with PDAF. The rear camera also features a dual-LED flash, HDR, Panorama and is capable of 4k video recording at 30/60fps, 1080p video recording at up to 240fps and 720p video recording at 960fps. The single front-facing camera is a 20MP shooter with an f/2.0 aperture and HDR. It can also record 1080p videos at 30fps.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Hardware and Software
Xioami Mi 9 uses the new Snapdragon 855 SoC which based on the 7nm FinFET process technology. The Chipset has 8 cores with a clock speed of up to 2.85GHz which is paired with an Adreno 640 GPU for gaming. This device has 4GB or 6GB of RAM depending on the configuration, the former comes with 64GB of storage while the latter comes with either 128GB or 256GB of Storage.
There is also a transparent version of the Xiaomi Mi 9 that comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and also the Explorer Edition (which is also transparent) that comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. All configurations do not have a microSD card slot for storage expansion. Xiaomi Mi 9 runs MIUI 10 which based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie Operating System.
Battery & Network Connectivity
The 3,300mAh battery comes equipped with a 27W fast charging and a 20W fast wireless charging. It also has dual 4G LTE connectivity, Dual-band WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS, Infrared Port, NFC and a USB Type-C port with support for USB On The Go. There is no FM radio and a 3.5mm jack on board.

The base version of 6GB/64GB has a starting price of $490, 8GB/128GB goes for $520 and 8GB/256GB for $545. The transparent 8GB/256GB variant comes in at $740 while the Explorer Edition (which is also transparent) with 12GB/256GB will sell for $885.
