Xiaomi Mi 8 SE accompanied the Xiaomi Mi 8 to its Launch party last year and just like clockwork, Xiaomi Mi 9 SE arrived not long ago alongside Xiaomi Mi 9. Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is a toned down albeit a capable version of the Xiaomi Mi 9. The device uses the new Snapdragon 712 SoC, Making it the first device to utilise the Chipset (just like Xiaomi Mi 8 SE was the first to use the Snapdragon 710 SoC). Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Design And Display
Xiaomi Mi 9 SE has a smaller 5.97-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1080p screen resolution and a 432ppi. The screen is covered by a Corning to glass 5 for screen protection. It uses the 19:9 aspect ratio with a water drop notch cut out for the front-facing camera.
There is also a little chin at the bottom. The fingerprint sensor is located underneath the display which leaves the back of the of the device with the triple camera setup at the top left side with an LED flash below it. Overall, the device weighs 155 grams and measures 7.5mm in thickness with three colour options; Violet, Blue and Gray.

Xioami Mi 9 SE is equipped with a total of 4 cameras; 3 cameras at the back and one at the front for selfies. The triple rear camera comprises of a main 48MP Sony camera with an f/1.8 aperture and PDAF, a 16MP ultrawide camera with f/2.2 aperture and Lastly, a 12MP telephoto lens with PDAF.
The rear camera also features a dual-LED flash, HDR, Panorama and is capable of 4k video recording at 30fps, 1080p video recording at up to 120fps and 720p video recording at 960fps. The single front-facing camera is a 20MP shooter with an f/2.0 aperture and HDR. It can also record 1080p videos at 30fps.
Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Hardware and Software
Snapdragon 712 makes its debut here on the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE. The New SoC has an octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz which is paired with an Adreno 616. It is equipped with 6GB of RAM and two storage options; 64GB or 128GB, both of which does not come with a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. It runs MIUI 10 out of the box which is based on Android 9.0 Pie.
Battery & Network Connectivity
The 3,070mAh powering this device has an 18W fast charging and no wireless charging. It does dual 4G LTE, dual-band WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, Infrared and a USB Type-C port with support for USB On The Go. There is no FM radio or 3.5mm jack, you’ll have to use a dongle for the latter.
