Earlier this year, a Facebook page with the name “Xiaomi Nigeria” sprung and as usual, we thought it was one of those fan pages made by a Xiaomi user in Nigeria. It started posting and didn’t gain that much traction until April 10th when the Facebook Page along with the newly created Twitter Page (@XiaomiNigeria) got verified. A Post Also went up on Their Facebook page which says “The wait is over. Xiaomi is finally officially coming to Nigeria on April 24. Extraordinary things are about to happen soon. Want to join?” With a Picture of a Xiaomi smartphone and the words “Innovation for Everyone” Written across it.
The smartphone in the Image only shows the back of the device and when looked closely it reveals a triple camera setup which only points towards 3 Xiaomi Smartphones-Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi 9 Transparent Edition and Mi 9 SE. Now, A day before that post was made, Xiaomi Nigeria celebrated Xiaomi’s 9th birthday and pictures of the celebration were taken with a Mi 9 (Not the Mi 9 Transparent Edition or Mi 9 SE) as seen in the watermark at the bottom left corner of the images.
At that point, it was pretty much confirmed that the Mi 9 was going to be the headliner for the Launch. However, barely a week to the event, the Facebook page has hinted at yet another device that will be present at the launch with three different posts. The first post was about a Redmi Smartphone with a water drop notch and a 4,000mAh battery which I thought was going to be the Redmi 7 until the second post came, revealing the Snapdragon 660 SoC of the Redmi device which pretty much confirmed it is the Redmi Note 7.
So far, these are the two smartphones that have been otherwise confirmed for the Launch but who knows, we might be seeing something new at the Launch. Perhaps a Powerbank? MI Airdots? Other Mi Home devices? Only time will tell.
