Facebook kicks up Bots for messenger developer challenge for MEA region

If you are a developer and ready to make up to $25,000 in Facebook bots for the messenger challenge, Facebook is organizing a Bots for Messenger Challenge for developers in the Middle East and North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa (MEA) where they will be challenged to create innovative bots.

The idea behind the Facebook Bots for Messenger Challenge in the MEA area is to equip developers in that regions with the necessary tools to grow their start-ups and in the end, make money.

 Facebook Bots for Messenger Challenge Requirements

To be successful in this challenge, you must be able to work as a team, and developers are allowed to divide themselves into a maximum of 3 teams comprising of three people per team in three categories.

The 3 categories for choosing winners are listed below

  • Gaming and Entertainment
  • Productivity and Utility
  • Social Good

Prizes to be won in the Facebook Bots for messenger Challenge

Those who make the 30 finalists (10 from each category) will win a Gear VR and a mobile phone, an hour of Facebook mentorship, tools and services from FB start worth up to $40,000

ALL Students who make it to the final selection will win for themselves an additional $2000 ((students will be verified against their registration via their government accredited school email accounts).

There will be three-runner-up teams (one from the Middle East and North Africa, and 2 from Sub-Saharan Africa and each will win $10,000 and three months of mentorship from Facebook

The final winning team in each region will go home with $20,000 and three months of mentorship from Facebook. Since there are three categories per region, there will be 3 final winners.

How to register for Facebook Bots for Messenger challenge

The competition starts on the 15th of Feb. 2017 and the deadline for submission is 28th April. 2017. Interested developers are required to submit their entries before the deadline and qualified entries will be announced on the 19th of May while the final winners will be chosen on the 19th of June.
